Pride In Movement Physical Therapy

My Approach & Story

Holistic & Inclusive Care

I like to look at the whole person, not just a body part. I strive to make my practice a safe space where you feel safe in your presentation and comfortable sharing your concerns with me in an environment where you feel heard and understood.

I want to be a clinician you know you can trust. I will always be sure to advise you on what are the next best steps for you.

Education & Empowerment

My goal with every patient who comes into my care is that they come away from every session knowing more about their body and themselves.

I want my patients to feel aware of what they have going on and help to alleviate any fears that may be associated with that.

We will be active partners in your recovery, so I leave myself open to small inquiries via phone, text, email, or patient portal outside of visits in case you have any clarifying questions.

Truly One-On-One Attention

When you're with me, every minute of the session is dedicated to you and your recovery.

With this focused approach, you can be confident in your recovery and that you are receiving the best care possible.

We'll get to the root of your issue together and come up with a plan to tackle it head-on so that you can get back to doing what you love.

About Me

Hi! I'm Dr. Riley Shea (he/him)

I created Pride In Movement PT to provide the level of care I think patients deserve.

As a gay man myself, my goal with my practice is to provide that level of safe, inclusive, personalized care that leaves you feeling understood and heard. I want my patients to feel confident in their recovery, aware of what's going on, and to know that they can trust me to give them the best care possible.

I also have my own journey with chronic pain, along with a strong interest in the neuroscience behind it. This has informed my treatment of chronic pain with my patients significantly.

I'm a local Mainer, having grown up in Portland. I have my Bachelor's of Science in Athletic Training from the University of Southern Maine and I attended the University of New England for my Doctorate in Physical Therapy.

At UNE, I learned pelvic health PT under Dr. Adrienne McAuley - one of the authors of the PT Clinical Practice Guidelines for Urgency Urinary Incontinence, Urinary Urgency, and Urinary Frequency in Adult Women. (Link to Journal)

Dr. McAuley is a large reason I practice pelvic health - and part of why I have my urinary PT program as her instruction made me particularly well-equipped to treat these conditions.

On the fun side of things, I am heavily involved in Pride Sports Portland, a local sports chapter where I play dodgeball, pickleball, kickball, and volleyball.

And lastly, I'd love a chance to talk about how I can help you, book a call with me and we can work together to get you back to doing what you love!
